1 "Sneeze Etiquette" by Alisa Rosenthal
Ohhhhh splendid. It is so very enjoyable to watch people having an awkward time of it, as well as just having abnormal social tendencies.

1.5 "Dave and Shelia the Skeleton in One-Night Stand" by Patrick Ashcraft
Excellent physical comedy by the skeleton. Top notch.

3 "Coupons for Condoms" by Eric Landuyt
It kind of went on a little too long with the whole bit about wanting all the condoms and not being able to get them etc.

4 "I'm going to Be the Best Darn Me I Can Be" by Katy Baggs
I remember there being a specific line in there that I really liked, but I don't remember what it was. Shoot. I did enjoy the bit about dinosaur AIDS and things of that nature.

5 "Chocolate Bar" by Danielle Santangelo
I really liked it. I found it chucklable that the two names rhymed. Also that Danielle didn't seem to care that she got her wallet taken away and never got it back.

5.5 "Eric's Plan to Impress a Girl Is Easily Thwarted" by Eric Landuyt
Funny indeed.

6 "The Names of My Friends Who Have Gonorrhea" by Tim Sitzmann
I liked that Eli half-attempted putting on Tim's pants, because I imagined it in my head as Elizabethan-style shortsish.

7 "A Homeless Man" by Jacob Zawa
At the begining, I wasn't sure if it was meant to be funny or not. It was a bit over dramatic for my tastes.

8 "Something Wonderful" by Sean Shatto
I was extremely impressed by the first sound that was kind of like a llama in distress or something. That is a sound that I could not make.

8.5 "Dinner Oh My God" by Rock 'n' Roll Norris
Very nice melty fall from the chair. Calzone is a funny word.

9 "Book Rush" by Adam Hahn
It's funny because a friend of mine worked with said Adam Hahn at said bookstore for a day and then one time we went to visit her and she wasn't working but he was only then we ran away.

10 "Making the Band" by Evan Schenck
Ohhhhh David Schwimmer. Always showing up in the unlikliest of places.

10.5 "Cunnilingus Is Just Another Word for Despair" by Jon Shelton
That was a pretty sweet looking sword.

11 "The Tease" by Eli Wilkinson
The begining was quite funny only then it got more serious and it was kind of odd that he was dressed like a lady.

11.5 "Where's Thad???" by Patrick Ashcraft
It's too bad that that guy is always sad. That Thad.

12 "A Special Message from the VP of Marketing at the American Fruit Company" by Greg Machlin
I ate two bananas yesterday and then I thought maybe this had effected me in ways that I had not expected.

Where were the overwhelming numbers of pieces and audience members that I had come to expect for the first No Shame of the season? That was goofy. perhaps they will all show up for all the NOT first-of-the-seasony ones, just to throw us off their scent.

alright, here are my nominations. granted they only span a minimum of four years cuz that's all i saw... But. You understand.

10. Jason Nebergall - Mr. Piggles' Wonderous Cavalcade of Mirth and Whimsy

[Mr. Piggles and his keeper frantically discuss theatre, wonderpants, cloudy jello. Nebergall; comic monologue.]

this piece made jason nebergall the first person i ever considered "my favorite no shamer"

Friday, October 18th, 2002 - [Theatre B]

0.5. James Erwin - Shallow, Shallow Love

[In poetic fashion, he longs to express love through violence upon your person. Erwin, monologue]

this has been one that has stuck with me since i first heard it and i would love to see it performed.

6. Michele Thompson (stolen by) - The New Christy Minstrels

[Santa melts Scrooge's heart with help from New Christy Minstrels' Christmas album. McKenna, Thompson; found comedy sketch]

this one was really good.

or this one.

. White Cat and Math Teacher - The Lamposts Are Mine

(Dracula enters gamer boy's bedroom, they dance; musical comedy piece; Michele Thompson, William Callahan)

12) James Erwin - Jesus Christ, Boy Detective

(Jesus Christ solves small-town mysteries, wards off lynch mob. Erwin, Stangl, Rust, mob; comedy sketch)

oh my god, how it slew me through and through.

13) Paul Rust - Joan and Greg Are in the Hospital

(This guy keeps hurting himself so he can talk to an ER attendant he has a crush on. When she rejects him, he mutilates her. Rust, Clarke; seriocomic scene.)

This is just one of a lot of paul ones i could nominate.

6) angry lemon - Mariachi Nightmare

(It's a yelling and clapping song about keeping it real! Angel, Horak, River, audience; scary rock song.)

this one, if this is the one i am thinking of.

13) Paul Rust - Your Eyebrows Are Darker

[Paul's awkward cousin/first come thing]

this was a good paul one.

1. Shannon Moore, Grade 3 - Found Monologue Series #4: Bugs Bunny Is Here

[so many characters!]

Chris Stangl read this one and it was SOOO Funny.

8. Michael Tabor - Evil Michael Tabor

[what an asshole! doesn't give kitten tuna]

pretty awesome

14. Aprille Clarke - Certain Things I Can Forgive, Such as Murder

[AC has a boner for Richard Ramirez]

amazing.

15. Chris Stangl - Natural History Museum a poem

[jumpsuit, broom handle]

also amazing.

7. Arlen Lawson - Baby Blue; a Game of Who Is Meaner?

this was awesome. but so was the one where arlen said the line "My father told me to wipe until the traces of brown turned to traces of red, but he had no idea what an ordeal he put on his colorblind child." but i dont know what it was called. arlen is amazing.

21. Aprille Clarke - Blow Me Up, Blow Me Down
22. Chris Stangl - Giant Monster

both of these were awesome.

im just nominating everything i ever really really liked in the hopes that some of them will get picked. AKA picking the set list for my ideal fantasy no shame concert.

2. Brad Hansen - Adventures of the Crappy Playwriting Hero Squad

awesome.

7. Erin - I Hope This Is Too Scary and You Run Away Screaming

13. (Dan) Danger Brooks - Young Girls

(Dan likes young girls, like Paul. Michele is jealous. James is a squirrel. These narratives intersect in mysterious ways.)

hilarious

14. Aprille Clarke - The Lair of the Marrow Monkey

this might be the one where she says "his bones were as powdery as cocaine and twice as fun at parties."

2.5. April is Rape Awareness Month by Sadie Smith

(Michael Tabor spills the dinosaurs)

9) Cornered - a tale of Iowa City by Brad Hansen

pretty awesome.

12. From Just Another Shark: "Amity by Stephen Hiro (Ptacek) (a man best known as Stev-0 performs a song on a bouzouki and sings--themes of shark attacks and lost love)

I'm going to let you newer people nominate more recent pieces because its late and im tired.

1. "Sneeze Etiquette" by Alisa Rosenthal
I enjoy any piece that pokes fun at etiquette.
1.5 "Dave and Shelia the Skeleton in One-Night Stand" by Patrick Ashcraft
This is one of Patrick’s funniest pieces yet. The skeleton gave a great performance too.
3. "Coupons for Condoms" by Eric Landuyt
Don’t give up, Adam. One day you will need that many condoms.
4 "I'm going to Be the Best Darn Me I Can Be" by Katy Baggs
We all wonder where we’d be if things went differently. It’s kind of sad Katy ended up dead everywhere else. I’m glad she’s alive in this dimension.
5 "Chocolate Bar" by Danielle Santangelo
Narrowly beats Patrick’s piece for best of the night. Everything and everyone was hilarious.
5.5 "Eric's Plan to Impress a Girl Is Easily Thwarted" by Eric Landuyt
This was a true story.
6 "The Names of My Friends Who Have Gonorrhea" by Tim Sitzmann
Tim, I’m sorry I couldn’t be in this piece because it was fun. I’ll do my laundry more often from now on.
7 "A Homeless Man" by Jacob Zawa
I felt bad when people laughed because I’ve had people laugh at my serious stuff too. I thought the imagery and delivery were pretty good.
8 "Something Wonderful" by Sean Shatto
Personally, I’m getting a little tired of Sean’s make-noise-in-the-dark pieces. I enjoy funny noises, but he needs to try something different.
8.5 "Dinner Oh My God" by Rock 'n' Roll Norris
Amusing.
9 "Book Rush" by Adam Hahn
Adam is always very creative, and the structure of this piece made it really funny.
10 "Making the Band" by Evan Schenck
Kind of funny but just okay.
10.5 "Cunnilingus Is Just Another Word for Despair" by Jon Shelton
More sword! More sword!
11 "The Tease" by Eli Wilkinson
I think this is Eli’s best serious piece yet. Strong theme with nice delivery.
11.5 "Where's Thad???" by Patrick Ashcraft
Oh, poor Thad.
12 "A Special Message from the VP of Marketing at the American Fruit Company" by Greg Machlin
I really like bananas, so I know I’m safe. Well done, Greg.
A great season opener. I look forward to next week.

"10 'Making the Band' by Evan Schenck
Kind of funny but just okay."

Just so people know, you can call one of my pieces "bad" without really hurting my feelings too much.

1. "Sneeze Etiquette"
Glorious. Alisa discovering her pants were as touching of moments as we’ve seen.
1.5 "Dave & Shelia"
I wish he'd put some music with it. But can you pick out all the songs he referenced?
3. "Coupons for Condoms"
I liked how his insides were now 40% cleaner.
4. "I'm going to Be the Best Darn Me"
The encores were a nice touch.
5. "Chocolate Bar"
This was so much like a conversation I would actually have with my friends.
5.5. "Eric's Plan to Impress a Girl"
We hadn’t heard from Eric in a while, and it was good to see him again.
6. "The Names of My Friends Who Have Gone Away"
I liked it.
7. "A Hoemeless Man"
A clever piece. Juxtaposing the writing of the letters was a nice touch. The ending was funny.
8. "Something Wonderful"
In case anyone was wondering, Sean asked me to really spit on him. However, banging his head on the floor was neither intentional nor planned. But it did make my character seem even more like an asshole.
8.5. "Dinner Oh My God"
I enjoyed this one. I never knew the true meaning of “Titleist.”
9. "Book Rush"
The eating toenails thing was out of nowhere, which is not necessarily bad, just very random.
10. "Making the Band"
Very interesting. It took some guts for Evan to do this.
10.5. "Cunnilingus"
Pretty good. If those letters are actually what real people in Jon's rehab group said, that makes it even better.
11. "The Tease"
This was mine, I won't review it.
11.5. "Where's Thad?"
Oh, so good. Very clever.
12. "A Special Message,"
I could’ve done without this piece.

Evan,
If your piece had been bad, I would have said so. It had a couple funny lines it, but I found it mediocre overall because it didn't it really go anywhere. If people are just sitting around talking, the things they talk about need to be very funny.

Ummm let this be known that I did NOT write that review. My sign in name is in blue. Like above. Someone is pretending to be me again.
