Spring 2006 BONS nominations

What do you dream of seeing again? It's looking like the board is going to meet Friday afternoon, so you have all week to make nominations/bribes. I hear Jamal likes hummus.

ALSO, I would like to remind you that you can see all of this semester's orders here, if that helps refresh your memory. Dead week of fall semester is eligible too.

From my understanding by voting on here the board gets an idea what people want to see. But in the end they get the say what goes on stage. 'Cause they are trying to construct the best show they can.

So some pieces that recieve some votes might not get in, but something like a musical piece that didn't get any might. So there is variation in show.

I don't really feel very comfortable doing a full nomination cycle because I basically miss fully 50% of all the shows. However, I'll do a few that I'd like to see.

Donald's Lonely LunchBox, Part Intermission: Comedic Relief for the SpongeBob Crowd by Cool Jesse and Patrick Swayze (stompy song about trucks w/props)

[I enjoyed this piece and I think it would be awesome to put it at like, #3 on the BONS order so that people will be getting into the show and then Jesse comes out yelling about trucks and shit and throwing a big ball at the audience.]

What Not to Do by Bobby Evers (brief scene: Is it a To-Do list, or--? I've just said.)

[This is a fun option for a .5]

The Davids by Poupon "The Professor" Tabor

Rome by Flabbergasted Jakers

Navy Guy with Seven Children by the Michael Tabors

Finally, if one of my pieces made it into the order, I think I'd rather it be "A Farewell Letter" because I believe it to be the best thing I've written this semester and because I'd like to see it performed. [Is it fair for me to say that or not?]

Well said, Eli.
Well said, Aprille.

The show must go on, and it should be the best show for the audience.
No Shame is most valuable as a relatively "shame-free" playground where big kids (and even the obmorbidly obese elderly can play with ideas, scenes, visions, sounds, relationship, poetry, and drama without the "hissing malignancy" of traditional academia -- or the malignant narcissism of much of the performing community in Iowa City

Who would have thought that Coool Jesse would be the voice of enlightenment and moderation by advising everyone to just lighten up a few weeks or months back.

Well said, Cool Jesse.

To paraphrase that street poet Rodney King, why can't we all just have fun?

Taking the No Shame blog too seriously or worrying about BONS while the polar ice caps are melting strikes me like rearranging decks chair on the Titanic. And speaking of the Titanic, the best thing about that wretched vehicle was the quiet dignity, composure, and spirituality of the musicians who kept performing their art even in the face of almost certain death. Not that's huevos and humility rolled up into one touching scene.

Normally Board Members don't post their nominations, but i don't like to "follow" the "rules"

1. shelton's pants mansion piece (Shelton inherits one peanut butter twix, but must spend the night in a haunted pants mansion)
2. patrick singing a song, Sadie thought for her but it was actually for Shelton who Patrick kissed
3. Eric's monolouge about a girl, possibly a theme of continual rejection
4. Timm Sitzmann "Nothing Special (A couple fights with interjecting quips from a third figure)
5. Dori - talking about her job as a dominatrix
6. Adam Hahn - "Three Beer Commercials You Will Never See on American Television" (threesome, suicide, vomit)
7. John Leigh - "Clone Love"?
8. Aprille's piece where she ate an omelette from her own egg
9. "Gustav & George" a scene from 2034 by Greg Machlin
10. Sean Shatto got our help doing a crossword.
11. Evan Schenck did his piece about overthrowing the No Shame board. Stage 5: Dragons!
12. Dirty 60 - "David Ogden Stires"
13. Cool Jesse - "Jesse Blaine is not here!"

Although my BONS recommendations are essentially a piece for piece recreation of Dead Week, i think it's okay. dead week pieces are always forgotten (the only one i can remember being chosen is the King of Modesty piece last year)so let's just do dead week again (i didn't pick them because i was gone all semester.)

Okay! I hope that y'all give this a read-over.

A Hilarious prank by Lilli Richard

Corduroy sunburn, Part Intermission (Part 2) : Because I Don't Like The Way Y'all'ree Looking' at Me 'And Now Heres's Something We Hope You'll Really Like...' by Cool Jesse and if you laugh like you're on the inside, he'll cut you like a minority!

OR

Donald's Lonely LunchBox, Part Intermission: Comedic Relief for the SpongeBob Crowd by Cool Jesse and Patrick Swayze

Brian and Jake Make Weird Noises by Brian and Jake

So Jealous About It by Sadie Smith

Battory Overpass by Adam Hahn

It's Fun to Trick when the Tricks are Treats by Katy Baggs

Guadalupe Goes to the Airport by Aprille Clarke

I also died at the fingernail one. That was... really excellent.

I've been to less than half the shows this semester, so I guess that makes me a prick and a half. The half coming from the shows I missed. And the prick coming from not really suggesting that many pieces.

PS: I don't know where the "guy" from "Dead Geoff" comes from. That's not what it's called. Though, to be fair, I like it quite a bit. But it's still "Dead Geoff"
