1) Ronald Reagan Fanfiction - Grover Norquist

This man knows how to sell books, or anything.

2) My Poetry is Me Naked - Mathew Bovard

I liked this in that, when he wasn't speaking you were clearly aware of the level of clothing, but he was so powerful in his poetry, when he spoke all I could see were the words.

4) Party Dress Patty - Katy Baggs

Patty was the perfect asshole in this piece.

5) La Tortuga - James Satre Roth

I wish this would have gone longer. It was fun.

6) Monkey Gone to Heaven - Josh Carlson

Here's a tip, when getting ready to perform, don't drink two red bulls the hour before you drive out to the show to stay awake. It makes it really hard to read your script as your hand shakes uncontrollably. Lesson learned for me.

8) How Psychology Research Actually Gets Done - Dick Roberts

Truth. Sad truth.

11) The Book of Boj - John Bates

You could charge me $20 and I would pay it if it meant I could see John Bates perform. Letterman the Late Night. Freakin priceless!

I'm sick. I'm on meds. So here is a review... yay.

1) Ronald Reagan Fanfiction - Grover Norquist

This was classic Evan. Yay.

2) My Poetry is Me Naked - Mathew Bovard

-I appreciate Mathew's fearlessness and dedication to his piece. Hope he comes back.

3) Captains Log: A Gas Station Experience - A local Gas Stations Employees

The only thing edited from these entries were the names of the gas station and the employees who logged them. That said I found myself with another flop that I thought would've been better.

4) Party Dress Patty - Katy Baggs

-Katy was awesome. I'm sorry if I messed up the lights on this one I was genuinely confused by the end stage direction. But other than that I thought the piece was very good and Katy's energy was fantastic.

5) La Tortuga - James Satre Roth

This was going so well before it ended too soon. It felt rushed. Let the piece find its natural ending point. Then edit the lines and stuff that you don't need. Kudos for casting.

6) Monkey Gone to Heaven - Josh Carlson
- This piece ran a little long but it had a fun concept and with some trimming could be a really good piece. I like Josh's nervous energy. I wish he would return with a piece that uses that energy for hilarious results. Idk. A bomb is about to go off or something.

7) Crazy in a Parking Booth, January 23, 2008 - Mirri
-Mirri, the parking booth employees and gas station employees should have a monthly conference to complain about people and society. It would be great.

8) How Psychology Research Actually Gets Done - Dick Roberts

-Scary. And I'm glad he let us know.

9) Medium Rare- Chicken and Biscuits

-Idk. I'm not used to writing short stories. I get repetitive and I usually don't feel confident enough with them.

10) Stiletto Cherries- Mirri

-I liked it.

11) The Book of Boj - John Bates
-Piece of the night. I am convinced that John could take anything and make it funny.

12) Song - Mirri.

-A good way to end the show.

Hey, I'm not going to be in town this weekend but can I get someone to perform this poem I wrote? It's short, it won't be hard to do. Thanksm, let me know if this is agreeable...

"The Not Adam"
by Adam Acacia

there is nothing
there is lonliness
there is not adam
you see a distant friendly face
could it be over at my place?
it walks on by wihtout a trace...
there is not smile for adam
go see sunny hills
go see blue skies
go see happy strangers
and while your at it go see the not adam....

It's not supposed to be funny, if that's what your wondering! Anyway thanks for doing it

Adam

Evan I missed ur monologues that were like this. Fun all around. I loved it. You shout shout and be crazier though. Thats the best. I like crazy angry evan

2) My Poetry is Me Naked - Mathew Bovard

it had been awhile since there was a naked fella. I thought his presentation of his poetry was great though nakedness always confuses me unless its supposed to be funny? Clearly a bad sign for my future.

3) Captains Log: A Gas Station Experience - A local Gas Stations Employees

I love this way much but I think I loved it more when I heard it at a party? I think maybe the order of entries wasn't as hot as it could be? They were so great though! all real right?

4) Party Dress Patty - Katy Baggs

Best energy. also a cute dress. and i remember middle school when this happened.

5) La Tortuga - James Satre Roth

Good casting. i like evan as a reluctant turtle.

6) Monkey Gone to Heaven - Josh Carlson

Went a long. But I thought there were some pretty great lines.

7) Crazy in a Parking Booth, January 23, 2008 - Mirri

I liked doing this more than I thought I would. But while I found it hilarious on some level clearly others took it only on its other level. I'm ok with it either way.

8) How Psychology Research Actually Gets Done - Dick Roberts

This had a chart. I love props. I miss props. I miss performative aspects like props and staging and movement. Long though? Or maybe just so intricate that me on my 20 hrs of sleep all week couldn't handle it.

9) Medium Rare- Chicken and Biscuits

Eli. I was pleasently surprised. Not that i saw this from the lights and expected to hate it or something? But I was kind of impressed. Though there was some confusion at the end of this about certain elements I thought it was written pretty well and with revisions could maybe hold up on its own even without being on stage. High Five.

10) Stiletto Cherries- Mirri

Frankly I think this was just too much of me. And I talked too freaking much. I talk too freaking much whenever I'm nervous. I should just start things. Plus the writing in this is on the edge of my good graces recently.

11) The Book of Boj - John Bates

AMAZING. JOHN BATES THIS IS WHY WE LOVE YOU. DO MORE.

12) Song - Mirri.
meh. i wasn't feeling it that night. it was ok i guess. I think a string is coming loose on my guitar cause it kept sounding out of key to me though i knew it was in and it was fucking with my head.

Hey, I got to the show late and was really dead tired so I don't remember much EXCEPT!

- I missed naked poetry
- I really liked Mirri's parking booth one. I thought it could've used a bit o' focus and a touch less rambling maybe, but maybe that's also what made it happen
- patty was a great asshole
- late night letterman
- I wondered how much/little/ifany of Dick Roberts' piece was fiction. I doubt much at all

I always seem to miss No Shame nudity, and I'm especially bummed this time because it was part of a serious piece. I think doing a serious performance while nude is very challenging because, like Mirri said, most people expect nudity to be funny. Perhaps they even want it to be funny so it's easier for them to deal with. The shock value of it can distract attention from the material, but I think if the performer can use nudity in service of the material, the end result can be very strong.
Anyway, kudos to Mathew Bovard for having (and showing) some balls. I'm sorry to have missed this show because it sounds like there were some really good pieces, but I hope I'll see you all again soon.
